Blacktown Arts Centre Performing Arts Residency
The residency provides a small budget for artist fees, mentoring fees and production costs as well as a rehearsal space to develop new work or present work in a site specific context. The Blacktown Arts Centre’s performance residency program for 2013 will focus on two initiatives, a site specific development at Mount Druitt and a cross cultural new work development in the Performance Studio at the Blacktown Arts Centre.
DAWSON MALL PROGRAM
The Dawson Mall Residency aims to animate Dawson Mall in Mount Druitt through a series of public performances/presentations and or workshops. Musicians, dancers, multi-media performance artists or performance groups are encouraged to apply to curate a series of short performances, or to perform and facilitate community workshops where appropriate with the aim of engaging local communities.
CROSS CULTURAL COLLABORATION
The category is open to a duo or a group of artists who are interested in exploring cross cultural collaborations in the development of new contemporary performance.
