Tom Bass Sculpture Studio Industry Information Sessions
We have organised four Industry Info Sessions to provide some insight and knowledge on relevant topics for practicing sculptors. The first three will be held during Term 3.
The cost will be $20 per session or $70 for all four. There are limited places available for each session. If you’d like to book, please get in touch as soon as possible to pay and secure your place.
Tuesday 7 August 2012, 3:30pm – 4:30pm Arts Law, guest speaker Jo Teng from the Arts Law Centre of Australia. Location: TBSSS, 1A Clara St, Erskineville.
Jo Teng will give an insight into contracts and legal matters to do with commissions, gallery representation, tendering. She will also speak about insurance and liability. Jo Teng is a solicitor at the Arts Law Centre of Australia, and previously worked as a lawyer in federal government. Jo has a passion for intellectual property law and the arts and entertainment industries, particularly in regards to the internet, and provides advice on a range of issues from copyright and defamation to websites and YouTube. Tuesday 21 August 2012, 3:30pm – 4:30pm Copyright for Artists, guest speaker Zoe Rodriguez, Government and Stakeholders Coordinator from Copyright Agency Limited. Location: TBSSS, 1A Clara St, Erskineville.
Lawyer Zoe Rodriguez will speak about the basics of copyright for visual artists, including, ownership rules, ways to protect your copyright, times you can use other artists’ works and Copyright Agency’s work on behalf of artists. Please book before 14th August.
Tuesday 11 September, 3:30pm – 5:00pm Public Sculpture: Working with Local Government, guest speakers Eva Rodriguez Riestra – Public Art Program Manager, City of Sydney and Margo Hoekstra – Artist and Chair of TBSSS. Location: TBSSS, 1A Clara St, Erskineville.
Eva Rodriguez Riestra will give insight into public sculpture from the council perspective – tendering, the process, what it’s like working with artists, how to get involved with projects, she will also give an overview of the projects she has worked on. Margo Hoekstra has many years experience of working on public sculptures. Margo will provide the artist’s perspective of working with councils, as well as talk about commissions and the projects she has worked on. Please book before 4th September.
Saturday 10th November, 3:00pm – 4:30pm. Gallery and Artist Relationships, guest speakers Brenda May – Director of Brenda May Gallery and Sculptor Jim Croke who is represented by Brenda May Gallery. Location: Brenda May Gallery, 2 Danks Street Waterloo NSW 2017.
Brenda and Jim will give insight into the Gallery/Artist relationship. This talk will also include a tour of Jim’s latest exhibition at Brenda May Gallery. Please book before 3rd November.
